Our first Unity Principle says: “There is only one Presence and one power active as the universe and as my life, God the Good.” This is a pretty clear declaration of the spiritual truth that Jesus shared in his ministry. All there is, is Love and all there is, is God. 1 John 4:16 tells us, “…God is love and he/she that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him/her.” 1 John 4:18 goes on to say, “There is no fear in love but perfect love casteth out fear.”
So, in putting all this together, we are being told that all there is, is God that we can experience as love and there is nothing else that has power in the universe. As I am writing this I am reminded of the song by Johnny Lee, “Looking for love in all the wrong places.” I am sure he had other thoughts in mind; however, it brings home the basic metaphysical/spiritual premise that anything that shows up in our lives that is other than Love is false and has been made up by the ego mind. We are told that the Kingdom of Heaven is Within, we are the Light of the world, and greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).
As we celebrate Valentine’s day in the outer world, let’s realize that the act of accepting the perfect love of Spirit within us is seeking love in all the right places. As we dwell in the perfect love within us, fear is cast out.
