“The Mouth Speaks from the Fullness of the Heart.” This quote from Jesus, our master teacher, in Matthew 12:34 (Lamsa) tells us that the words we speak are indicators of our beliefs and how we experience the life we are living. We are literally living in the world we create through the everyday conversations we hold with ourselves and others. So now the question becomes, what is your heart full of?
A good way to answer that question is to take an inventory of our lives. How is our health? How are our financial affairs? How are our relationships and family dynamics? Do we have friends that we are supported and nurtured by? Do we have an occupation/hobby/business that we feel good about and contributes to the higher good? Do we feel good about ourselves and the roll we are playing in the world? Do we use words of praise, love and support in our everyday conversations?
Maybe the solution to problems we are experiencing comes back to the idle words we use in the casual conversations we have with others. Words of praise, love, and support create those qualities in our lives. (No matter who or what they are directed at.) Words of criticism, complaining, and condemnation create those issues in our lives. (Again, no matter who or what they are directed at.)
Maybe the solution to life’s problems is just simply cleaning up our everyday language and committing to speaking only words of praise, love and support. Paul tells us in Phil. 4:8 (Lamsa) “…whatever is true, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think (and speak) about those things.”
We are expressions of Divinity creating our world by the words that we speak. Let us learn to use our words to create peace, love, and harmony in the world of our experience. It really is up to us!
