Jesus clearly shared the idea of a universal consciousness among human beings. What might be called a non-duality of the individual spirit. An understanding that we are one heart, one mind, one spirit functioning as individual expressions of one Divinity we call God or Spirit or Source or Ultimate reality.
James Marion, in his book, Putting on the Mind of Christ, tells us that it was from this great vision of non-duality or no separation between God and humans, and between and among all human beings that Jesus formulated his two great commandments, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul, and with all your mind,” and “You must love your neighbor (or fellow humans) as yourself” (Matt. 22:37-39).
At the last supper, Jesus gave us a new commandment, again telling us that we love one another just as he loved us (John 13:34). This idea of non-duality is a deep spiritual understanding that we are all children of God. We are created in the image and likeness of God and all worthy of love, respect and honor. We are each part of the Godhead, fully functioning and capable and imbued with the holy spirit of life, able to function and operate in the world we live in. We are to see each other with this love, respect and honor knowing that we are each an extension of divinity operating as we know best guided by our inner source. We are many branches of the tree of life bringing our specific talents and abilities to the world around us.
The way of Spirit that Jesus is sharing with us is definitely the road less traveled. Maybe it is the pearl of a great price that is ignored by the masses. Maybe this path of love, appreciation, honor and support is the Holy Grail that philosophers have been seeking for centuries. I will tell you that it requires a new attitude and understanding in life. It requires one to let go and let God. (The God of your understanding.) That new understanding occurs as you begin a program of seeking the divine within your own being and surrender to the new beliefs that begin surfacing. This is the beginning of leading a heart-based life.
We live in a marvelous world at an exciting time. We are seeing change take place all around us. That change is the reason you are here. You are part of that change bringing your heart-based ideas to this new world grounded in love. We begin this day with love in our hearts. We are one heart, expressing a new world, grounded and rooted in divinity’s love.
