We have just completed a major holiday in the American cultural life that we call “Thanksgiving.” A time to set aside a day of normal life and give thanks for the blessings, people, and events that we are grateful for and appreciate. The question becomes, what did we create for ourselves, our families, our friends, and our community from that exercise?
Paraphrasing Proverbs 23:7 gives us an idea: Whatever a person thinks in their heart, so are they. Or, to bring the newer ideas of Quantum Physics into the conversation, our thoughts and feelings create the outcomes in our lives. A more practical idea might be to say, that we live in a world of our own creation through the thoughts, feelings, and words we use in our daily lives.
So, if we were truly grateful for our lives and affairs, just as they are, we create more good, joy and happiness for ourselves, family, friends and community. If we were envious, angry, and resentful, we created more of those types of events that created those thoughts and feelings.
These are the simple rules of leading a successful life that our master teacher Jesus shared with us in The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, 6, and 7. These are the same rules he said were difficult to follow unless you use them in everyday life and live the precepts he outlined.
Yes, we are going back to basics again. Love God, love yourself, love your neighbor, do not worry, trust your inner self, pray silently, do not boast, you are the light, you are an expression of God, etc.
Join with us as we create a wonderful universal blessing with our combined and unified knowing that God is good, we are, and all is well. It is time to come back together as one body creating a wonderful Christmas Blessing for ourselves, families, friends, and community.
