Earlier this week I listened into a Silent Unity prayer call when the prayer partner used the phrase: generative consciousness. I have been pondering that idea ever since. We know that our individual consciousness determines the type of life and lifestyle that we lead. Proverbs 23:7 tells us that “as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” But this phrase of generative consciousness gnawed on my awareness with questions about just where my thinking and consciousness comes from and if my consciousness determines the type of life that I lead, how did it get there and how can I “Regenerate my Consciousness” to a higher state of being?
This idea that I have generated the lifestyle that I am now living in and experiencing is really a basic idea that parallels the metaphysical teachings that we share, however, I guess it is just the starkness of the idea that has entered my awareness. I am responsible for every little thing in my life that has been generated and shows up there through my consciousness or thinking. So, there is no one to forgive or appreciate other than myself. I can’t blame my family, school, spouse, political party, government, church, or any outside energy. It all comes back to me and my conscious and unconscious thinking. What a bummer! It is easy to blame others and castigate the world for my problems.
It is interesting that our Jewish brothers and sisters are celebrating Yom Kippur on October 8. Yom Kippur, one of the most important holidays in the Jewish faith, marks the culmination of a period of introspection and repentance. For me, this means a review of my life and affairs, a forgiveness of my shortcomings, and a renewed focus on my spiritual path.
Am I really walking the talk, am I spending time with Spirit in my daily quiet times, am I reading spiritual material and enhancing my awareness, am I really letting go and letting God show up in my daily life as it unfolds?
Life seems to be in a turmoil around us right now or is the truth that we are allowing the “reality” of the world to penetrate our spiritual peace and awareness? Join with me as we look at “regenerating” the story of our life. Letting go and forgiving ourselves for life as we know it and creating a new life experience of love, peace and harmony as we learn to follow the path of Spirit.
