I have used this phrase in describing the innate awareness that is part of each one of us. On a spiritual level and using metaphysical interpretations, each of us is a spirit, complete and whole, who has created a physical body to experience the material realm that we are all sharing with each other. This material realm is corruptible and wears out over time. The true spiritual self is incorruptible and lives through eternity.
Someone asked me to expand on this idea and as I did the research, I remembered that Charles Fillmore had expanded this idea beyond this original interpretation. In his book, The Revealing Word, he describes “old age” as “A false belief deeply imbedded in the race mind. It accepts biological law as the ultimate for human instead of the law of God – which is eternal life in the body.”
As far as we know, Charles espoused these ideas until the age of 92. I am sure he was surprised to experience death at the age of 94. He maintained excellent health until his passing and was a model for the spiritual path in life.
In the meantime, we will approach the concept of spiritual immortality on a metaphysical level knowing that we are divine beings, living temporarily in a physical body to experience the material world. The only person that has overcome the corruptibility of the human body, that we are aware of, is Jesus; and he gave us hints on the lifestyle that we can follow to replicate his experience. He did tell us in John 14:12 that we can learn “to do the things that he did.”
